Nashville, Tennessee
Weekly, unannounced advocacy visits to your parent's nursing home, assisted living, or memory care community, with a written report and direct access to me, so you always know what's actually going on, wherever you're calling in from.
Recent check-ins, never on a schedule
What changes
A phone call at a set time. A summary at the care conference. Useful, but planned, which means it's the version that was ready for you, not necessarily the full picture of an ordinary Tuesday.
I show up unannounced, on no fixed pattern, and tell you what I actually see, because I spent years on the other side of that table and know exactly what to look for.
I check in on your person at a different day and time each week, deliberately unpredictable, so what I see is what's really happening, not what's prepared for a visit.
How they seemed. Whether they were cared for the way you would want. Anything that felt off. I put it into words and send it to you, so you know how your person is actually doing, without having to ask.
Call me when something feels off or you just want to know what's normal. I respond same-day, always, because I only work with five families, and that's on purpose.
Where I stand
I'm not paid by, affiliated with, or beholden to any facility. My only loyalty is to your family.

Before this, I worked as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, managing assisted living and memory care communities. I watched families get the sanitized version. And over and over, I watched that the residents who were visited most were the residents who got helped most.
I started Proxy Family because I got tired of wishing I could just tell families what was actually going on. You don't have to figure this out alone, and neither does your person.
What you get is someone who actually knows the ins and outs of these facilities, squarely in your family's corner.
Retainers are $795/month: weekly unannounced visits, written reports, and an expert on the phone whenever you have a question, all included. One consistent person who knows your parent, watching out and advocating for them.
Proxy Family provides weekly, unannounced advocacy visits to a resident in a Nashville-area nursing home, assisted living community, or memory care facility, on behalf of a family who can't visit regularly in person. After each visit, you get a written report, plus direct phone access whenever you have a question.
All three. Whether your parent is in a skilled nursing facility, an assisted living community, or a memory care unit, the same weekly, unannounced visit and reporting process applies, adjusted to what matters most in that setting.
Retainers are $795 per month, which includes weekly unannounced visits, written reports after each visit, and phone access whenever you have a question.
Yes. Most families who work with Proxy Family live out of state. The service exists specifically for families who can't visit in person regularly, wherever you're located.
Yes, on purpose. Visits happen on no fixed schedule, at different days and times each week, so what's seen reflects an ordinary day, not one prepared for a visit. Facilities cannot restrict a resident's chosen visitors to scheduled or announced visits.
No. Proxy Family is not paid by, affiliated with, or beholden to any facility. The only loyalty is to the family.
A geriatric care manager typically handles broader case management and planning. Proxy Family is a lighter-touch, higher-frequency service focused specifically on weekly, in-person, unannounced presence, and often works well alongside a care manager rather than replacing one.
Smaller issues are raised directly with staff during the visit itself. Anything more significant is reported to the family right away, with a clear recommendation on next steps.
